Miloš Jovanović, the lead candidate of the “Authentic Right – Dr Miloš Jovanović” electoral list, appeared on the “Let’s Talk Boldly Serbian” podcast to discuss family, institutions and the organisation of the state.
Jovanović reiterated his opposition to recognising same-sex marriages and partnerships and to adoption by such couples. At the same time, he stressed that he had no objection to same-sex relationships between consenting adults and that private life should not be subject to state interference. He argued that legal recognition of these partnerships reflected ideological changes and criticised consequences he attributed to European legislation.
Discussing the political system, he said that party control over institutions undermined the rule of law. He highlighted the mismatch between the president’s electoral legitimacy and constitutional powers, alongside the need to reform electoral rules. He advocated a more direct choice of named candidates, which he believes would help democratise political parties.
He also proposed decentralising Serbia: in addition to central and municipal government, districts would receive certain responsibilities, with district heads overseeing the acts of their assemblies.
